By Wang Zhan

HONG KONG - The Faster Payment System resumed service at 1pm on Sunday, the Hong Kong Monetary Authority said.

In a statement on Sunday afternoon, the HKMA said banks and stored value facility operators will gradually resume the related services.

The FPS is a real-time payment service platform which provides full connectivity between banks, enabling customers to make round-the-clock interbank transfers

“The public can contact individual banks or stored value facility operators for more details regarding FPS service availability,” the statement reads.

It became unavailable on Sunday morning after a planned system maintenance, which involved a site relocation and system upgrade, turned out to be more complicated than previous FPS system maintenance work.
