HONG KONG - The Office for Safeguarding National Security of the Central People's Government in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) said on Sunday that it firmly supports the judiciary of the HKSAR in punishing acts and activities that endanger national security in accordance with the law, and will never allow external forces to interfere in Hong Kong's rule of law.

A spokesperson for the office said that the governments and politicians of a few countries, including the United States, made irresponsible remarks on the High Court of the HKSAR's verdict on Benny Tai Yiu-ting and others for "conspiracy to subvert state power", slandering Hong Kong's rule of law, smearing Hong Kong's national security law, and even imposing sanctions on Hong Kong.

The spokesperson for the office said any intimidation and pressure will never shake the will and determination of the central government and the HKSAR to safeguard national security in accordance with the law

The spokesperson said that safeguarding national security is a top priority for all countries and regions in the world. The large amount of conclusive evidence revealed in cases heard by courts of the HKSAR fully demonstrated that anti-China disruptors conspired to seize control of the Legislative Council through the so-called "primary election", paralyze the HKSAR government, and undermine, destroy or overthrow the current political system and structure of the HKSAR established by the HKSAR Basic Law and the "one country, two systems" principle.

The spokesperson said that conspiracy to commit subversion is a serious crime under the national security law in Hong Kong and must be punished by law. After the court in Hong Kong delivered the verdict, the governments and politicians of a few countries, including the United States, wantonly attacked and smeared, clamored for so-called sanctions, in an attempt to interfere with normal law enforcement and judicial work of the HKSAR and obstruct the effective implementation of the national security law in Hong Kong.
