HONG KONG - The Chinese mainland athletes who achieved brilliant results at the 2024 Paris Olympics are going to showcase their talents during a three-day visit to the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region starting Thursday.

A star-studded delegation of mainland athletes, led by Gao Zhidan, director of the General Administration of Sport of China (GASC), and Zhou Jinqiang, deputy director of the GASC, arrived in the SAR with a warm welcome from officials and residents.

Among the star athletes are Pan Zhanle, champion of the men’s 100-meter freestyle and 4x100m medley relay, who is also the world record holder in the 100m freestyle event; Quan Hongchan, two-time gold medalist in diving events at the Paris Olympics; and Zhang Yufei, a swimmer specializing in the butterfly stroke and a six-time medalist in Paris.

They will participate in three public events, including an Olympians gala show at Queen Elizabeth Stadium, and sports demonstrations in badminton, gymnastics, table tennis, diving and swimming at the stadium and at Victoria Park Swimming Pool.

The national team won 91 medals at this year's Olympic Games - with 40 golds, 27 silvers and 24 bronzes - its best results in an overseas Olympics since the team’s Olympic debut in the Los Angeles 1984.

The delegation will conclude the visit on Saturday and then head to Macao for three days.
