Hong Kong is celebrating the Lantern Festival with a gala night on Wednesday at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre in Tsim Sha Tsui.
The ongoing Chinese New Year Lantern Carnival, organized by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department, also features lantern displays and performances to celebrate the festival, which falls on the fifteenth day of the first month of the Chinese lunar calendar, marking the end of Chinese New Year celebrations and symbolizing the coming of spring.
During the media tour on Tuesday, the lantern displays and activities for the gala night were introduced, including ethnic songs and dances by the Guizhou Performance and Arts Group. Other activities include an intangible cultural heritage market and a photo exhibit on Guizhou.
